Mystery Behind Digital Content Delivery

By Jannie Campos

Digital content delivery is whereby digital information and content is floated through the internet in a form of goods or services. It is currently the fastest growing market in the world. As there is an immerse customer broadband, this system has become viable. In addition, the price of bandwidth has reduced drastically and this has attracted many people to join it.

The form of electronic information is varied. These may include software applications, online films, eBooks, music and video games just to mention a few. The main advantage of electronic content is that you can download free of charge or for a small fee. The information is often delivered in the form of a hard copy and is shipped to the consumer. Alternatively, it may be delivered in an electronic format. The use of regular broadband platforms is essential for the transfer of this type of information.

The main advantage of this kind of content transfer is the relative cheap cost incurred. The customer, students, authors, retail bankers, or anyone creating, buying or disseminating content, now has an easier way to do this and have their work reach more people at a faster rate. The cheaper cost increases profit margins. The ease of content transfer gives them the freedom from doing too much work.

As the prices are lower, many customers have come to prefer this system than traditional markets. Since retail shops have to cover for the costs of running their business, they tend to be expensive. This has made many people to turn to the internet platform as it is fast and cheaper. Also there are also many forms of business models.

The internet has changed the way business is done and created even more opportunities to do business. Content can now reach millions of people in a matter of minutes. For instance a book author can publish a chapter on a publishing platform and distribute it to many people as he works on the next chapter. This way, the author can concentrate on working as the published chapter automatically earns him money.

Certain platforms such as Flickr and MySpace, allow artists who would otherwise have no means of affording rates in expensive galleries and shows to, preview their work to a wide audience for free. This allows them to get commissions which will earn them money in the end. It enables them to create networks and test their business skills to see if they are really meant for that kind of business.

Internet platforms for digital transfer have made it easy for independent musicians to have better careers. They eliminate the need for major recording labels and managers as the artists are now in direct contact with their fans. The bureaucracy of dealing with manufactures and other middlemen is no longer there and artists can concentrate on better ways of doing business.

Digital content delivery has created a lot of flexibility and maintenance of quality. However, this has its own negative consequences as it leads to piracy. If you want for example to download music, you can do it without the consent of the musician. All is not lost though, as this problem has been fixed by Digital Rights Management denoted as DRM. This body allows for owners of web content to protect it.
